Four members from the Czech Energy Delegation visited the Michigan Energy Options in East Lansing to learn about our Energy Demonstration Center and discuss energy and sustainability issues.

The tour was led by Jennifer Binkley-Power, executive director, and Becky Jo Farrington, environmental education manager.

Members of the Czech delegation were interested in learning how to involve the public and various stakeholder groups while running energy and sustainability programming. Power and Farrington introduced them the organization's various programs and its sustainable education efforts. The visitors viewed the energy-saving displays and learned about the demonstration center.

Michal Bartos, director of the Slunakov Center of Ecological Activities, was particularly interested in sustainable programs and enjoyed the tour.

The Czech delegation applauded MEO’s efforts in promoting energy efficiency and in involving the public in sustainable energy practices.

The visit to Michigan Energy Options is part of the Czech Republic’s project to explore the U.S. trends in energy efficiency and sustainable energy development. The project is sponsored by the U.S. Department of State and their International Visitor Leadership Program.

Members of the delegation are involved in various energy programs in the Czech Republic, including the Czech Biomass Association, the Energy Efficiency Center in Prague, ekobydleni.eu, an on-line environmental magazine, and Hybrid.cz, an on-line alternative fuels magazine.
