In this issue too, Northern Options (now Michigan Energy Options) Director Jennifer Silverston shares her experiences when she joined a delegation to visit Marquette's sister city, Higashi-Omi, Japan. She saw house after house monted with solar panels on top, visited a biodisel manufacturing plant using cooking oil, method to conserve water by recycling water for use in toilets, and she learned on the "Cool Biz" policy where the government asked public workers to leave their jacket and ties at home to cut down air-conditioning and save energy.
