The Sundial Fall 2005

There is one interesting article featured in this issue, titled Welcome to Grand Marais! This small remote town in the Upper Peninsular is one of the windiest locations along Lake Superior. Residents here are often faced with heavy winds that destroy their transmission lines. Coupled with the fact that the town is at the end of the transmission line, leaves them vulnerable to frequent power outages. This Fall issue also highlights a new program in partnership with the Michigan Department of Environmental Quality known as the Michigan Environmental Education Curriculum Support (MEECS). Michigan is among only a handful of states creating its own environmental education curriculum. To read more on MEECS and other articles in this issue, click here.
